The Covid-19 situation is changing constantly. Everyone in our community is affected, but we understand there are particular issues for people who were facing financial and other difficulties before the crisis developed. This group includes potential applicants to our University Bursary Programme, and existing Bursary holders. We hope the following information will provide reassurance to potential applicants and current bursary holders.
Applicants for University Bursaries beginning in the academic year 2020 – 21
We are still accepting bursary applications for the academic year beginning this September. We know that students will have questions about how their A level grades will be determined, when the University year will begin and many other things. We don’t know the answers but we are committed to supporting successful applicants whenever the Universities decide to admit the cohort of students due to finish their A level studies in summer 2020. Follow the University Bursary application process here.
Current University Bursary Holders
We are contacting all our current bursary holders to explain how we will deal with your bursary in the current crisis.
If you are due to Graduate in Summer 2020
In order for your final payment to be released you will need to submit a) confirmation of your final degree result and b) a completed monitoring form. If you need to retake or defer the end of your course as a result of Covid 19 or for any other reason this will still be the procedure. These can be submitted via email and payment will be released once these have been received.
Students due to Graduate after September 2020
If you are still following your degree course via online/distance learning, you will still be able to claim your bursary for the summer term 2020. You will no longer need to have your attendance form stamped by the university but you will need to complete the form attendance form and return it to khyden@harpurtrust.org.uk. Please cc your Tutor, at their ac.uk address into this email when you send it back to us. Please complete the following statement within the email.
“I can confirm that I am continuing to study (course name) at the (university name) this term. Please find attached my completed proof of attendance form for this term”
Your bursary will be paid at the next scheduled opportunity once this has been received by us.
If your course has been postponed / you have chosen to defer one or more terms
You will not be paid your award for time out of university. Please let us know if you have been required or have decided to take a break from your studies. Payments will resume in the usual way once you have confirmed that you are back at University.
If you have any questions or queries or would like to discuss any particular circumstance please do get in touch with Katrina Hyden on 01234 369 507
