Trust staff raise £2k for The Primrose Unit
Every year the staff of the Harpur Trust Office select a local charity to support through a range of fundraising activities. Our chosen appeal for 2015 was the Primrose Unit and we were delighted to raise a record £2000 through cake sales, mince pie sales, hot dog sales, a 3 course Italian lunch (cooked and served by one of the team), raffles, sweepstakes, mufti days and homemade craft sales.
The Primrose unit houses Bedford Hospital’s outpatient oncology service for cancer patients and provides high quality, clinical and support services and facilities to treat a wide range of cancers areas including breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, gastric, lymphoma and gynaecology.
Gordon Beedon (pictured above with Community Programmes Director Lucy Bardner) accepted a cheque on behalf of the Bedford Hospitals Charity and told us that the money would be put to great use in their target to raise £750,000 to extend the unit’s existing provision. The extended unit will greatly enhance the care provided to patients and significantly increase capacity.
