Putnoe Pupils get performing

This morning our friends at Philharmonia Orchestra delivered a workshop to around 30 excited pupils at Putnoe Primary School. As well as learning to conduct, meeting members of the orchestra, hearing about different instruments and making use of a host of percussion instruments, the pupils learned a song which has been specially written by Paul Rissman in preparation for Orchestra Unwrapped, a concert series for children which we at The Harpur Trust are proud to be associated with. These pupils will be part of an audience of 700 children and teachers at the concert on 30th January and they will all perform the song alongside the entire symphony orchestra. This afternoon the team are with pupils at St John’s Special School and yesterday they visited Kymbrook and Priory primary schools.

Later this week, Bedford School will host an inset session for staff across the participating schools, delivered by the Philharmonia to support non-specialist and specialist music teachers in preparing for the concert, and providing them with lots of classroom tips and ideas that they can use to deliver the curriculum across the year.

This is the second time The Harpur Trust has supported this exciting project.  We first got involved as part of our 450th anniversary celebrations, and our Trustees were so impressed by the project that they decided we should continue to support it.
