Livibility – Lifestyle Choices

Lifestyle Choices has been helping people with disabilities in Bedford lead more active lives since 2004. The project, run by registered charity Livability, helps people to access social, recreational and educational opportunities.  The service was awarded a grant of £31,000 in March 2011 which will be used to cover the costs of staffing for one year. Lifestyle Choices aims to promote inclusion and participation by working closely with 120 disabled people every year in their local communities.

The one-to-one support provided by experienced staff enables people like Mary to lead more independent lives and fulfill their ambitions. Mary contacted Lifestyle Choices because she really wanted to get out and about after spending  a lot of time time at home in recent years. The Lifestyle Choices worker visited Mary who spoke about how she had enjoyed sailing years ago. The support worker contacted a local club with specialist facilities. Mary was delighted to be able to sail again and has gained confidence by taking to the helm once more.
