Inset for local music teachers
The Philharmonia’s Orchestra Unwrapped project is a concert series for children. This exciting programme, which we helped to bring to Bedford last year as part of our 450th anniversary celebrations, includes an inset programme for music teachers and music co-ordinators. Composer Paul Rissman led today’s session, teaching the group of staff the specially written song which the children will learn ahead of the concert, and perform alongside the entire symphony orchestra on the day.
In the second half of the session, they produced and performed a piece of music with percussion instruments.
The aim of the session is to equip staff with a host of techniques and ideas that they can take back to the classroom and use to support their delivery of the curriculum.
We are very excited to be supporting this project once again and look forward to the concert in January 2018 which will be attended by around 700 local school children from across the borough.
