The Harpur Trust Develops New Social Investment Fund
The Harpur Trust is pleased to announce that Trustees have recently set aside £2,000,000 for a social investment fund. This will enable the Trust to invest in social enterprises which further our three charitable objects in the Borough of Bedford. Social investments are quite different from grants in that the money invested is our capital rather than the returns on capital , and we expect there will be some financial return on the investment.
For this reason the Trust has established a Social Investment Group (SIG) with the necessary financial management skills & experience to ensure the fund is invested wisely, balancing both financial and social return on the investment. The SIG is now working with a number of experienced social investment agencies to source suitable investment opportunities. If you are aware of a social enterprise looking for investment in the field of education, relief of poverty and hardship or recreation with a social welfare purpose, why not get in touch with the Harpur Trust? All projects must benefit the people of Bedford Borough.
